August 9th, 1974After the Watergate scandal, in which Richard Nixon and some members of his cabinet, bugged Democratic party chambers. As a result, Nixon was forced to resign and his Vice-President, Gerald Ford is sworn into office. This event is significant because it is one of the first large-scale political scandals conducted by a sitting President in the United States
