Description:

D-Day was nicknamed Operation Overlord and led by Commander Bradley to storm the beaches of Normandy. Allies gathered a massive force of nearly 3 million British, American, and Canadian troops and mountains of military equipment and supplies. Allies stormed the French beach where German artillery and defenses waited for them a killed millions of soldiers. The allied forces sent parachute divisions behind enemy lines and troops continued to push forward on the beach until they overtook the base and liberated France from Axis control.
Significance - Further diminished Germany's reach over Europe and was the largest sea to land battle in history
