21 févr. 1965 - February 21, 1965
Description:
Background- After splitting from the Nation of Islam, X founded the Muslim Mosque, Incorporated. In breaking away from the Nation of Islam and founding the new organization, X had made enemies within the Nation and from militant groups which despised his willingness to work with all groups. On the morning of February 21, shots were fired and a bomb exploded in the Audubon Ballroom in New York. Malcolm X was hit multiple times by shots from killers Talmadge Hayer, Norman 3X Butler, and Thomas 15X Johnson.
Conclusion- The end of Malcolm X's life signified the start of a new war in the Civil Rights Movement. No longer was there a leader who opened their arms to call people of all races in the North as influential as X was. The contribution made by X to reach out to the "dead," or otherwise known as the poor and forgotten community of people living in slums, transformed the power of the movement and the voice led behind it. The nation began to turn to Martin Luther King Jr. for guidance, until his assassination on April 4, 1968.
