1 janv. 1811 - Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla's army comes close to capturing the Mexican capital. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla flees North but is later captured and executed.

Description:

This is significant because he was
the one who started the Mexican
War of Independence in the first place
so now the people have to find new leaders. Some people in his army however followed him such as José María Morelos y Pavón, Mariano Matamoros, and Vicente Guerrero as they lead native (and racially mixed) armies and continued fight against the Spanish and the Royalists.
