1 janv. 1949 - North Atlantic
Treaty
Organization
(NATO)
Description:
Twelve nations joined a mutual defense agreement with the United States, forming the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO. In response to this the Soviet Union created one of their own mutual defense agreements, or the Warsaw Pact. This basically divided Europe into two. If war were to break out, it would be on an extremely large-scale. This massively increased the tensions between the two nations.
