Description:

The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization was a military alliance created to protect against the advances of communism within Asia. This council was brought together by the United States, and its main goal was to slow down or stop the aggression of communist China within the region. This was an important development that was meant to take care of China for the most part so that the United States could focus their effort other places in their "competition" against the Soviet Union.
