Following almost one year of revolutionary fervor, more than 5,000 civilians and more than 300 soldiers have been killed in the ever-mounting cycle of violence.

George III is at last forced to accept a law designating him no longer "King of England and Scotland", but "King of the English and Scots".

The de-mystification of the Anglo-Scottish crown is an affront to other European rulers.
