PUBG Corp has sued Epic Games over the similarities of their "battle royale" modes, which the former attributes to copyright infringement. The issue that revolves around the lawsuit is that gameplay modes and genres can't and shouldn't be copyrighted. If that was the case, then tabletop RPGs and FPS games everywhere could potentially be hit with lawsuits. PUBG also has a record of suing other supposed imitators in previous years, claiming that their usage of a frying pan as a weapon was an example of copyright infringement.
