demanded their land and the state of Georgia (and other southern states) passed laws allowing whites to take Native American land.
2. Whites also wanted other Native Americans’
lands to farming.
3. American Indians could not maintain
independent governments in theU. S.
Chief Justice John Marshall ruled in favor of the Cherokees but...Jackson did not intend to carry out the court’s ruling
