The New York Times published excerpts from a secret defense Department of Study of US involvement in Vietnam. The, Document was leaked by Daniel Ellsberg, a former Defense Department Analyst. The Government had lied to the Public and the real Reason they were in Vietnam was too ,"Avoid Humiliating Defeat" This made the public very angry. They did not want to send their sons, husbands, and friends to war to save the presidents pride.
