Today, Toyota began testing the Hybari, a hydrogen train with a range of 140 kilometers. The train will be 100% electric, will be able to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h, and will have the capacity to travel about 140 kilometers, thanks to the five tanks that will store 51 liters of hydrogen. It will be a regional model that will guarantee a more sustainable option for short trips. Specifically, the train will be equipped with four Toyota solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells of 60 kW each and two Hitachi lithium batteries with a capacity of 120 kWh per unit. These will be used to power the motors from the cells, as well as to capture energy from regenerative braking.
