- The British Indian Association resulted from the merger of the Landholders' Society and the Bengal British India Society- Its founding members included Raja Radhakanta Deb (President) and Debendranath Tagore (Secretary)
- The association was exclusively composed of Indians, primarily representing the interests of the educated elite and zamindars (landowners)
