20 juill. 1810 - Independence Day
Description:
Citizens of Bogota protested against Spanish rule. People of New Granada (Colombia) were severely unhappy with the invasion of their home by Spain. While other cities and surrounding countries gained independence, a riot was held and the people of Bogota went directly to the leader in town and forced him to sign a document which eventually led to complete freedom from Spanish rule.
~This contributes to Colombia's fight for democratization because it sets down the foundations for a new government to take place and allows the people to have free choice.
