16 janv. 1916 - The Zimmerman Telegram

Description:

An intercepted telegram by the British meant for the ambassador of Germany in Mexico. After being decoded the message said that Germany was willing to help fund and support a Mexican attack on the U.S. in order to reclaim lost land taken from them. In return Mexico would help Germany fight their side of the war. The significance of this intercepted message was huge because it was a giant push for the U.S. to join the war, which they did soon after Britain gave them this information. Woodrow Wilson abandoned his statement of neutrality and declared war on Germany in early 1917.
