While not specifically about education. The Plessy case challenged Jim Crow laws in the the south that mandated racial segregation. Homer Plessy lost the case to sit in in an all-white train car. The case established the judicial precedent of "separate but equal," which would be applied to school segregation in the United States until 1955.
