In this chapter, Bruno goes to speak to his father about moving away from Out-With. Father is very serious about this matter, and very patiently, tells Bruno that he is not allowed to voice his opinion on the matter. Bruno tells father that he wishes to go home, but father tells him that he will stay and he will like it. While their conversation is going on, Father is getting constantly interrupted by Nazis coming for his advice and opinions. This shows how important that Bruno is to this army, and he tries to force his beliefs on Bruno as well, making him salute to Hitler. Bruno doesn't even understand this, but he does it anyway, just because he looks up to Father.
