8 févr. 1887 - Dawes Act
Description:
The Dawes Severity Act of 1887 was used to dissolve many tribal organizations and attempted to assimilate or “americanize” natives. This included assigning 160 acres of land to a native family which interrupted their nomadic way of life. Dawes Act was significant in that it further oppressed natives and therefore opened the way for more Americans to move West.
