21 juin 1791 - Kings Flight to Varennes
Description:
The flight to Varennes is known as the royal family's failed attempt to escape Paris. The plan was to travel by coach to Montmedy. The group travelled to within 30km of its goal, before the King was recognised. This was very important as it showed the French people that Louis XVI could no longer be trusted.
