4 janv. 1773 - Boston Tea Party (1773)

Description:

After heavy protest of the taxation put in place by the Townshend laws within the colonies, Britain finally decided to lift the taxes on all products excluding tea. Several influential thinkers of the time found this to be unconstitutional, as taxes should be of the peoples will. In an act of revolt, a group known as the Sons of Liberty boarded and overthrew a shipment of tea from the East India company, destroying the goods by dumping them into the Boston Harbor. As an act, this showed a final defiance of Britain's extreme taxation, and would later be one of the driving forces behind the Revolutionary War.
