On Chandilar, a technologically advanced species called the Shi'ar rises in the Triangulum Galaxy. They make use of artificially created M'kraan crystals, capable of storing incredible amounts of both data and energy, and are used in every aspect of their technology. Their fleets descend upon planets, defeating their defenses and either wiping them out or absorbing them into their empire.
