1 janv. 1885 - Chinese Immigration Act Enacted
Description:
With the Chinese Immigration Act enacted in 1885 (Chinese Head Tax and Exclusion Act), Canada began a gradual series of restrictions on Asiatic immigration. For a long period, Canada’s immigration policies (both directly and indirectly) reflected a preferential desire for migrants of Caucasian ethnicity and exhibited discriminatory attitudes towards Asiatic ethnicities.
