3 h 29 min, 1 janv. 1912 ans - Regulation 17

Description:

Introduced in 1912, the Ontario government created Regulation 17 to win the political support from the English who opposed the French language and culture. This law limited French language instruction to Grades 1 and 2. The government received backlash from the angered francophones in Ontario. It was challenged in court, criticized and protested against by the French in Ontario or the Franco-Ontarians. But overtime, the Franco-Ontarian culture became more widespread and an official Franco-Ontarian flag was created. About 103 years after the law was passed, the Ontario Government issued a formal apology for Regulation 17.
