Actor Johnny Depp may live the high life in Los Angeles but he says he's been won over by the Australian way of life.

Talking to Nine News during an impromptu meet-and-greet with fans as he left the set of the Pirates Of The Caribbean on Thursday, the 51-year-old showman quipped that he and his wife Amber Heard have plans move to Queensland.

Depp, who was decked out in his full Captain Jack Sparrow costume told reporters: 'I'm going to move in with the mayor and Amber and I are going to settle in with the mayor and probably live in the garage for a while, find a spot and get some pets.

However, he began laughing at the reference to his dogs and pipped in with 'oops sorry'.
