Description:

The Storming of the Tulieries Palace: was one of the defining moments in the French Revolution. On August 10th, 1792 members of the National Guard and the National Assembly (Paris Communers) stormed the Palace of Tulieries in Paris France. This resulted in the fall of the French Monarchy, the storming of the Tulieries was a revolutionary action by Republican soldiers and the people of Paris, who wanted to put an end to the King and his monarchy. Although the storming of the Palace was successful for the revolution, King Louis XVI was able to escape as he took refuge with the Legislative Branch. After the storming of the Tulieries the Legislative Branch suspended the King, put an end to the monarchy, voted for its own conclusion and ordered elections for a new national convention.
This event changed French Nationalism as it showed the people that through their power they could pressure the monarchy causing it to fall. Through this, French Nationalism changed to become more about the people ruling the country.
