Battle of Antietam
Description:
The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest single day in American history, and showed that the Union could win against the Confederate army in the East and which led to the Emancipation Proclamation. It was fought between Confederate General Robert E. Lee's army and Union General George McClellan's army in Sharpsburg, Maryland. The Union army was twice as big as the Confederate army, which is a reason for the Union victory.
