On Christmas Eve 1979, the Soviet Union, who had interest in Afghanistan for centuries, decided to invade the country, as it was Communist. The United States was not pleased with this and allied with the Afghanistani people to fight back against the Soviets. During this time, the Afghanistani soldiers began to use American weapons.
