The beginning of world war one all began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on June 28th. He was in Sarajevo at the time and was murdered in a car by the black hand terrorist group. This assassination created alliances to collapse on each other and got almost all of Europe to turn against each other. The first shots of the war were fired early September of 1914 in the battle of Marne. It was between Germany and the allied powers France and great Britain.
