On this evening shortly after the confederates had surrendered Lincoln attended a popular play. While Lincoln was in a private suite famous actor and confederate sympathizer John Wilkes booth shot and killed Lincoln. Booth smuggled a small pistil into the play and casually walked passed everybody without any suspicion because of his fame, he then shot Lincoln in the head point blank.
