1 janv. 1803 - The Louisana Purchase 1803
Description:
The United States was limited in size due to them not being able to expand west of the Mississippi River before 1803. The lands west of the Mississippi River had been controlled by the French. The United States sent a future president, James Monroe, to France to negotiate for the lands. They agreed to a final price of $11 million. The 1803 Louisiana Purchase more than doubled the size of the United States.
