26 févr. 1909 - Ballinger-Pinchot Affair
Description:
This controversy occurred due to the differences between Taft's secretary Ballinger and Pinchot, head of the Forest Service. The controversy began when Taft gave permission to Ballinger to buy a million acres of public land. Pinchot accused Ballinger of corruption which led to the firing of Pinchot. This enraged many Progressives of that era and withdrew support for Taft.
