During the 1920s, the American economy was rapidly growing as people bought wildly on credit. In August 1929, the stock market hit it’s peak and began to decline. On October 18, it began to fall and on October 24, known as Black Thursday, over 10 million shares were traded as people desperately attempted to get their money back.
