The guillotine was created by Dr. Guillotine because it had been seen as a humane and painless execution. Nicolas Jacques Pelletier was the first to be guillotined in 1792. The guillotine was the most common thing to use during the French Revolution, however during the Reign of Terror the number of executions increased.
