Heinrich Himmler establishes the concentration camp Dachau in March 1933. It was officially described as the "first concentration camp for political prisoners". In the first year, the camp held only 4,800 prisoners, but those numbers would grow a lot in the following years because of Jewish men and women not following the Nuremberg laws and the events on Kristallnacht.
