1 janv. 2481 av. J.-C. - King Menkaura and Queen

Description:

Found in a cult temple where they worshipped the kings. In this temple there was a statue which showed the king flanked by Hathor, who was connected to the wives of the pharaohs and the personification of nome. The statues are highly individualized as opposed to the common idealized image shown in many sculptures. The sculptures were never completed. The woman may not have been his wife but his mother since she seems to be more represented.Unusual because it shows them stepping forward with their left foot. Made out of greywacke in Egypt.
