1 janv. 1620 - Jahangir Preferring a Sufi Shaikh to Kings.

Description:

In the painting, the flames of gold that radiate out from the emperor’s head into the large golden halo provide a sense of harmony because it is paired with the white crescent of the moon. The halo and the emperor are the largest things in the painting which shows their importance. Shows that the king values religion over all. King james is the 3rd guy (hand on sword shows how he is uneasy). The painter Bichitr is the 4th guy, the Shaikh is the first guy, he is a religious guy, and the 2nd guy is the sultan.(has hands clasped together in respect) Angels could represent crying or looking away from the radiance. The hands are really important in this painting because the way the Shaikhs hands are not touching the book conform to Hindu beliefs and the difference in bracelets and such show the difference between the rich and poor. The book was split apart because it is worth more money being split apart. Made out of watercolor, gold, and ink on paper, made in India.
