In the 1800's revolutionaries fought against old order as they wanted liberalism and nationalism. The people lived under Ottoman rule for more than 300 years. Even though it was in a way an independence from Ottoman Empire it was a revolution where they in a way overthrew who ruled them and became a country ruled by themselves. Along with revolt Siberia and Greece had also gained independence from Ottoman Empire.
