1 janv. 510 av. J.-C. - Apollo of Veii

Description:

Apulu (Apollo of Veii) detail, from the roof of the Portonaccio Temple, Veii, Italy, c. 510-500 B.C.E., painted terra-cotta, 5 feet 11inches high (Museo Nazionale di Villa Giulia, Rome)

Apollo of Veii is a representation of the Etruscan assimilation of Greek gods. It would have been a central figure in the rooftop narrative of the Portanaccio Temple. It. like many other Etruscan artworks, shows how the Etruscans combined many elements of Greek culture with their own.
