Description:
Artspace is an artist led organisation that runs arts programmes for people of all ages and abilities. It originated in Cinderford in 1988 and by 1991 had evolved into a cooperatively structured company. In August 2001, with funding from the Forest of Dean District Council and the Rural Development Programme, Artspace was able to buy the old Mercury newspaper office and print works. Over the next two years it raised £400,000 to convert and refurbish the building. The New Mercury arts centre opened to the public in September 2003.(day not exact)
