Description:

President Andrew Jackson, signed the the Indian Removal Act into law which forced Indian tribes to be moved out of their native lands and relocated into Oklahoma. The Indian Removal Act got rid of native tribes rights to express their own traditional culture in their homelands. The main tribes that were affected in the Indian Removal process were Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. The Indian Removal Act led to the Trail of Tears which was the long process of relocating the native tribes where thousands died along the trail to Oklahoma.
