Description:
British ship Empire Windrush docked at the port of Tilbury near London bringing passengers from the Caribbean. Amongst the passengers were 800 residents of the Caribbean some of whom, British Citizens were intending to settle in the UK. Sensationalised by the British press, the ship's arrival has been seen as marking the beginning of a large-scale migration to the UK from the west Indies.(Picture credit, Hatchling25, CC BY-SA 4.0)
