8 sept. 1966 - Severn Bridge Opens
Description:
The Severn Bridge motorway crossing was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on this date. Linking the South West and South Wales by motorway the bridge also made a daily commute between the Forest of Dean and e.g. Bristol possible. It also improved access to the area from the South West for tourism. The opening of the bridge signalled the end to the longstanding ferry service.Ajouté au bande de temps:
