10 nov 1851 - Mississippi Convention
Description:
Delegates came to Jackson for a meeting. It was supposed to be a secession campaign. Instead, the convention ended up passing a resolution reprimanding the legislature for calling the convention. It was declared Mississippi should follow the Compromise of 1850. They also said a state did not have constitutional and legal right to withdraw from the union. Finally, they declared that if relations didn't improve with the Union within the next 5 years, they may be forced to secede.
