Description:

While it's point of origin has been disputed, scholars do agree that the first definitive appearance of the plague was in Crimea in 1347. The Black Death spread through fleas and rats, and because of the commonality of these animals, the disease spread like wildfire and wiped out what was at the time, an entire third to half of the population of Earth, or approximately 75 - 200 million people.
