23 oct. 1942 - Beginning of the 2nd Battle of El Alamein
Description:
Churchill urged Roosevelt to begin attacking in Northern Africa, along with the British. Churchill believed the Allies were not strong enough to challenge the Axis in Europe. The British also needed to capture North Africa for their own reasons. Supplies could be sent through Egypt's Suez Canal from Britain's Asian colonies. North Africa could be a perfect base of operations to attack southern Europe.
The Allied contingent made up of Soldiers from Australia, India, Britain, New Zealand, Greece, and France all were part of the battle.
