The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression sparked by the stock market crash 1929. This hit Germany especially hard, as Germany dependent on the USA for loans and investments. By 1932, 6 million people were unemployed. The coalition government could not decide on their next course of action which angered the citizens who wanted a more decisive action to be taken. This resulted in a rise in support for more extreme parties, like the Nazi Party. (NSDAP)
