- Abyssinian Emperor Hale Selassie asked the League for help when Italy invaded Abyssinia
- LON took a long time to decide their next course of action and imposed economic sanctions and banned arm sales to Italy
- It was ineffective to Italy and did more harm to Abyssinia
- Hoare-Laval Pact: Britain and France tried to sign a secret pact with Italy that gave 2/3 of Abyssinia in return for stopping the invasion
