19 avr. 1775 - Lexington and Concord

Description:

The Battles of Lexington and Concord mark the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Tensions between the colonies and England had been building for years with events like the Stamp Act, the Townshend Acts, the Boston Massacre, the Tea Act, and the Coercive Acts. On April 19th in Lexington, British troops gathered, outnumbering the colonial militia nearly 10:1. Someone fired a shot (though historians don't know which side), and the British troops killed a handful of colonialists. They then proceed to Concord in search of colonial arms, but were met by 2,000 minutemen and were forced to retreat.
