4 juin 1940 - End of the Evacuation of Dunkirk
Description:
June 4th, 1940 marks the end of the evacuation of Dunkirk. More than 338,000 Allied soldiers were rescued. However, thousands of French soldiers were taken prisoner, and large amounts of supplies were left behind.
This would prove to be significant, because hundreds of thousands of soldiers were saved to fight another day, instead of being massacred near the beaches. The public in Britain were overjoyed, because hundreds of thousands or their soldiers were saved.
