18 avr. 1942 - Doolittle Raid
Description:
The Doolittle Raid, also known as the Tokyo Raid, was an aerial attack launched by the United States. The planes flew over Tokyo and dropped bombs on military targets. The attack itself was named after Lt. Doolittle, who earned the Medal of Honor as a result.
To raise patriotic morale after the tragedy that befell those trapped in the Philippines, the Doolittle Raid renewed the public’s spirit. Although the damage to Tokyo wasn’t significant, the thought of taking revenge for Pearl Harbor inspired hope.
