Description:

King Alfred the Great was the only king able to defeat the Viking army in A.D 871. After that event, Alfred was able to succeed one of his three brothers in becoming King of West Saxons. However, while Alfred was able to defeat the Vikings continued to attack Wessex's and it wasn't until Alfred negotiated a treaty with the Vikings dividing England.
